Message:

I was born in 1962 in Douala, Cameroun, Africa.
I moved to France at the age of ten
and grew up in the suburb of Paris till my twenty.
After achieving my baccalaureat,
I decided to leave for Amsterdam where I settled in 1982.

I confronted my very early love for photography
by taking a course at the Dutch School
for Professional photographers in Apeldoorn, The Netherlands.

The different cultural backgrounds into
which I grew up have considerably influenced my life and my vision.
I get my inspiration inside this cultural mix
mainly dominated by my African heritage.

My images essentially show people:
black, coloured and white in combination or inter action.
The woman is one of my predilection subject.
The erotic, mystic and esthetic themes continually recur in my work.

The theme of "contrast" is central in my work,
as a black woman living in a white world I get inspired to picture
the world in black & white.
Otherness, identity, duality, modernity,
tradition I use differences to harmonize them in the image.
From an idea I let the model grow up
towards a new world built of strong compositions, pride and awareness.

Bambi:
Did you know that Angele also has a history of dance?
From 1989 till 1992 she worked for several dance productions,
mainly as a choreographer and director.
I sure would like to see her dance;
maybe I can do the cat-'an'-roll with her!
